Testimony
"Teaching teachers how to take oral running records becomes so much easier using e-Literacy because of the systematic, yet realistic practice that the materials provide for the teacher participants."

Luanne Peterson, Coordinator of the U.P. Regional Literacy Training Center in Michigan

"It's obvious that the developers have actually trained teachers and taken thousands of running records themselves.  It is not just a wonderful training tool, but it answers questions for teachers."

Susan Chambers, Principal of Schall Elementary School

Putting It All Together
Product Description

Once a teacher understands marking conventions, they still need to know how running records should affect their teaching.  Putting It All Together provides teachers with the analysis tools so they can use the information gathered from running records to inform their instruction.  This is a perfect companion to Conventions Made Simple, for beginners to running records.  People who already understand marking conventions but not how to dissect running records, love the analysis tools described in Putting It All Together.

With Putting It All Together teachers analyze how students use meaning, structure and visual cues in their reading. Understanding what students use and neglect will better inform teaching and allow for flexible grouping in guided reading! Teachers are given practice analyzing student use of meaning, structure and visual clues, along with explanations of these cues. Teachers often struggle with evaluating students' fluency abilities and Putting It All Together includes a section on fluency.  A multi-dimensional fluency rubric is explored and teachers practice critiquing real students as they read.

  • Video clips explain the three sources of information students use to read
