Putting It All Together
Self Practice
Shared Reading in Action

Testimony
"Teaching teachers how to take oral running records becomes so much easier using e-Literacy because of the systematic, yet realistic practice that the materials provide for the teacher participants."

Luanne Peterson, Coordinator of the U.P. Regional Literacy Training Center in Michigan

"It's obvious that the developers have actually trained teachers and taken thousands of running records themselves.  It is not just a wonderful training tool, but it answers questions for teachers."

Susan Chambers, Principal of Schall Elementary School

Conventions Made Simple
Product Description

Conventions Made Simple is the easy way to learn the shorthand used in running records! Running records have been embraced by teachers and reading programs around the country, but some teachers never received training in how to take them. This is simply the best method of learning running records as used by MLPP (Michigan Literacy Progress Profile) and the National Primary Literacy Standards.

It allows teachers to learn each of the notations and practice at their own pace.  Video and audio clips guide teachers through each of the seven conventions from Correct Response to Self-Correction.  The teacher has authentic practice taking running records as they hear students read nursery rhymes. A reproducible running record form is included for teachers to use with their students. Teachers also learn how to calculate the running record error rate, self-correction rate, accuracy rate, and more.

Additional Highlights Include
  • Video clips modeling each convention plus several audio clips for more practice
  • One click of the "check" button provides immediate feedback
  • Practice with two well known nursery rhymes frees teachers to pay attention to technique not text
