Title
I = $12.35 billion Title I is
provides funding to states and schools with high numbers or
percentages of poor children to help ensure that all children
meet challenging state academic content and student academic
achievement standards.
Special Education State Grants = $10.07
billion The Office of
Special Education supports children and youth with disabilities
ages birth through 21 by providing leadership and financial
support to assist states and local districts, including
professional development funding.
Improving Teacher Quality State Grants =
$2.93 billion The Improving
Teach Quality grants seek to increase the academic achievement
of all students by helping schools and school districts ensure
that all teachers are highly qualified to teach.
21st Century Community
Learning Centers = $999 million 21st Century
Community Learning Centers to provide expanded academic
enrichment opportunities for children attending low performing
schools. Tutorial services and academic enrichment activities
are designed to help students meet local and state academic
standards in subjects such as reading and math.
Comprehensive School Reform = $308 million The
Comprehensive School Reform (CSR) program is designed to
increase student achievement by assisting public schools across
the country with implementing comprehensive reforms that are
grounded in scientifically based research and effective
practices.
Rural and Low-Income School Program = $168
million This assistance
program is designed to address the needs of rural, low-income
schools, it also helps them create competitive applications for
grants.
Reading Funding
Programs
Reading First = $1.02 billion The Reading
First Initiative provides states and local school districts
funding to eliminate the reading deficit by establishing
high-quality, comprehensive reading instruction in kindergarten
through grade 3.
Early Reading First = $74.5 million The overall
purpose of the Early Reading First Program is to prepare young
children to enter kindergarten with the necessary language,
cognitive, and early reading skills to prevent reading
difficulties and ensure school success.
Language Instruction for Limited English
Proficient and Immigrant Students = $665 M The Office of
English Language Acquisition's mission is to identify major
issues affecting the education of English language learners, and
to assist and support State and local systemic reform efforts
that emphasize high academic standards, school accountability,
professional training and parent involvement.

(Ed-Tech) State
Programs = $696 million One goal of the
Ed-Tech Program is to encourage the effective integration of
technology with teacher training and curriculum development to
establish successful research-based instructional methods.
Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use
